The power that comes from individual desire to improve income and family prospects by having choice and access to development opportunities — including employment and private enterprise — will be underpinned by land reform, availability of investment, necessary infrastructure, human capital investments that enables local and regional economic development, as well as supporting mobility and economic participation beyond the community.

Work Placement Scheme

The Work Placement Scheme facilitates employment opportunities for Indigenous people by placing them in full time employment and providing ongoing support to ensure they can live independently.

The scheme aims to remove the current dependence and negative impact of welfare programs, encouraging self reliance and responsibility and assisting participants to become satisfied, productive and respected members of their local and broader communities.

The project recruits workers from remote communities and brokers employment opportunities outside of the region in industries with worker shortages.

The program provides extensive support for these workers via housing, meals and training to assist them in living independently.

Objectives

  • Indigenous youth and adults learn to live independently, become self sufficient employees in the real economy and active participants in society
  • Maximum employment opportunities are available to Indigenous youth and adults including promotion of mobility and developing orbiting solutions that gains the support of families' and communities'
