The
Every Child Is Special project offers potential volunteers varying ways
of getting involved and making a difference to our projects. By
joining the projects’ Education Network a volunteer can
provide immediate and long lasting benefits to our communities.
What sets CYP and Every Child Is Special apart form other volunteer
projects is that our volunteers become part of a broader reform
agenda. When they leave their work is a part of a greater achievement.
They will be contributing to the ongoing sustainability of the
initiative which will not lose momentum or collapse when they
or the project departs.
Volunteering with the project provides people
a unique opportunity to assist in the education of Indigenous
children, whether working directly in the community to help roll
out a program or working in the administration implementing the
operating structure for the project.
Volunteers would normally participate in a four
day induction program that includes meeting Indigenous people
and gaining firsthand insight into their lives and communities
and being exposed to the real issues and challenges that are faced
on a daily basis.
The
project tracks the outcomes of each person and manages these to
a wider schedule. A volunteer can see and is encouraged on what
they are achieving and how it fits in to the final objective.
Volunteering provides an opportunity to use your
skills and knowledge to contribute. You will learn about the people
in the region and the issues affecting them. A voluntary assignment
with CYP Every Child Is Special will be a great personal growth and
professional development opportunity and unmatched work experience
for recent graduates.
Our volunteers truly experience a different culture
and contribute to reconciliation in a meaningful and personal
way.
