Kevin Locke – Senior Administration Support Officer

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wollongong, majoring in Psychology and Industrial Relations together with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

Kevin ‘retired’ from BHP in 2002 after 38 years. He commenced with BHP as an Electrical Apprentice and held many senior positions in various locations. When he retired he was the Manger Human Resources for BHP Steel. His last role was to project manage the demerger of BlueScope Steel (an ASX 50 Co) from the BHP group. Since ‘retirement’ for the next 3 years, until January 2006, Kevin worked for University of Ballarat as Manager Learning and Development and then Manager of the National Safety Council. He retired again in January 2006 and he has consulted on major projects for Integral Energy (strategic review of the training function) and Oil Search Pty Ltd (feasibility study of a technical college in the Southern Highlands of PNG).

Kevin grew up in Wollongong NSW, has worked in many of the BHP sites. He has a wife Margaret and 3 children plus 2 grandsons who are the love of his life. He understands the challenges of the Cape York Partnerships and hopes to bring his knowledge and experience gained in a range of functions and organisations to be able to contribute in a practical way to the goals of Every Child is Special Project.
