Dr
Helen Armstrong’s diverse background, expert analytical skills and
ability to interact successfully with people from diverse
socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, make her a valuable
addition to Cape York Partnerships where she is actively pursuing
her career objective of facilitating the deployment of sustainable
socio-economic and health care solutions for the underprivileged.
Helen has a BSc, Mathematics, Honours (1st Class,
Division 1) and a PhD in Statistics from
The University of NSW. She also has a Diploma of Editing and
Publishing from Macleay College, and a Diploma of Financial Markets
from The Securities Institute of Australia.
Helen was introduced to Cape York Partnerships
by a secondee from The Boston Consulting Group, for whom she worked
as an Associate Consultant for three years. She
has eight years of corporate experience as a business analyst
providing strategic planning and implementation advice to large
corporations and small private enterprises. In addition to her
consulting experience, she has worked as a legal editor for CCH, a
leading producer of publications in law.
She has
worked in a number of senior administration roles, such as
Leadership Training Program Coordinator for the Commonwealth Bank
corporate office in Sydney and as the Marketing Manager for Gordon
and Breach, Sydney office.
Whilst pursuing her PhD,
Helen worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of NSW,
and provided voluntary management consulting advice to nonprofit
organisations. She helped UNSW student
organisations develop operational, marketing and financial
management plans, and establish accounting systems. She provided
voluntary training in using a range of computer software. Helen also volunteered on a number of programs
for the disabled with Eastern Respite and Recreation in Sydney, and
spent time with the underprivileged in Redfern.
