CYP
has project-managed a number of community development projects
to successful outcomes including the Family
Income Management project, Every Child Is Special, The Work Placement Scheme and the Boys from the Bush project. They support this work by forming partnerships with
government, corporate and philanthropic agencies, which ensures
a coherent program of interrelated projects with maximum impact.
All of these projects are funded by a combination of government
(State and Commonwealth), corporate and philanthropic organisations.
CYP has governance processes to ensure accountability of activities
and management of funds and has independently audited financial
reports to support this.
CYP was also instrumental in driving a number
of reform initiatives that included developing the concept of
Negotiation Tables - a new method of interaction between Government
and Cape York Communities - and also assisting local Community
Justice Groups to design and establish their first Alcohol Management
Plans to tackle alcohol epidemics in communities. The state and
federal governments have embraced this process and have directed
their agencies to support this structure in dealing with Cape
York Indigenous communities. They have also funded CYP to facilitate
this process on behalf of four communities in Cape York. |
